Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has once again raised the issue of Kashmir in the United Nations General Assembly. During his speech at the 78th session of the General Assembly in New York, he once again showed his fascination for Pakistan and said many things about Kashmir. Not only this, he also targeted the five permanent members of the United Nations.
What did Erdogan say about Kashmir?
Putting forward Pakistan's agenda during the general discussion at the United Nations, the Turkish President said, "Only dialogue and cooperation between India and Pakistan can bring a lasting and just peace in Kashmir. Regional peace, stability and prosperity in South Asia." "This is very important to establish the path," Erdogan said Turkey will continue its support to resolve the dispute.

Demand raised for change in United Nations Security Council
However, he also praised India for advocating significant changes in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). He said that it is a matter of pride that India is playing an essential role in the UNSC. Meanwhile, Erdoğan targeted the five permanent members of the Security Council and said that he wants the 15 non-permanent members of the UNSC also to be made permanent members of the Security Council.

Erdoğan said, "These 20 countries of the UN Security Council (five permanent members + 15 non-permanent members) should be given permanent membership in the UNSC by rotation because the world is bigger than these five permanent members. Our only point is that The world is not limited to just America, Britain, France, China and Russia."

Turkey stands in support of Pakistan.
In recent years, Turkey has strongly raised the issue of Kashmir in the United Nations General Assembly while supporting Pakistan. Last year, Erdogan also presented his stand on Kashmir and said that India and Pakistan have been autonomous and independent countries for 75 years. Still, both have not established peace with each other. This is unfortunate, and we hope that permanent peace and prosperity will be found in Kashmir. Earlier in 2020, he had talked about Kashmir during the discussion in the General Assembly. However, India condemned Erdogan's statements and demanded respect for the country's autonomy.
