Indian Railways

The Indian Railways is taking several significant steps to make rail travel more convenient in the country. Recently, the Amrit Bharat trains were launched on two routes, and the country may get its first bullet train by 2026.

The Modi government is also preparing to give five significant gifts to railway passengers this year, which will provide world-class facilities to passengers from general to first-class.

The five significant changes that the Railways is preparing for this year are:

1. Amrit Bharat: The Railway has started operating Vande Bharat's sleeper train, Amrit Bharat. Currently, the trains run from Darbhanga to Delhi via Ayodhya and from Malda Town to Bengaluru. The Railway is planning to run Amrit Bharat on more routes soon. Passengers on these trains enjoy facilities like those on luxury trains.

2. Transformation of 500 stations: The Railways has embarked on a massive project to revamp 500 stations across the country. These stations, spanning 27 states and union territories, are being redesigned to blend India's rich heritage with modern amenities. The redeveloped stations will feature a roof plaza, children's play area, kiosk, lifts, waiting room, and food court, offering a glimpse of India's past and a taste of its future.

3. Chenab Bridge: The Indian Railways is constructing a marvel of engineering, the Chenab Bridge, in Jammu and Kashmir. This bridge, set to open this year, will be a staggering 359 meters above the river bed, surpassing the height of the Eiffel Tower in Paris by 35 meters. The Chenab bridge will not only connect Jammu and Kashmir to the rest of the country but also stand as a testament to India's prowess in infrastructure development.

4. Vande Bharat Metro: The Vande Bharat Metro is also ready, and its trial will start soon. This train will run between cities within a distance of 100 to 200 kilometres in big cities. The Railways are working rapidly in this direction.

5. Luxury long-distance train: The Railways has also prepared the first long-distance luxury train, with a speed of 130 kilometres per hour. Its trial will happen soon, making travel easier for passengers travelling long distances.
