In the lead-up to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP has been vocal about its aspirations to secure 400 seats.

However, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has contested these claims, asserting that the BJP will not surpass 200 seats, instead predicting they will secure only 195 seats. In contrast, Banerjee expressed confidence that the India Bloc would ensure a substantial victory, with at least 315 seats.

Banerjee attributed the tension among BJP members to the notable voter turnout across the nation. She emphasized that even members of the opposition acknowledge that Narendra Modi's return as Prime Minister is unlikely. Banerjee urged the BJP to abandon its insistence on securing 400 seats, criticizing what she perceived as arrogance on their part.

Addressing a rally in the Bangaon Lok Sabha constituency, Banerjee focused on issues such as the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). She criticized the requirement for members of the Matua community to fill out CAA application forms to obtain citizenship, suggesting that if the Prime Minister genuinely cared for the Matuas, citizenship should be granted without bureaucratic hurdles. Banerjee reaffirmed her commitment to opposing the implementation of the CAA, vowing to resist it vigorously.

Banerjee also attacked the BJP's actions in Sandeshkhali, accusing them of spending substantial sums to foment unrest and tarnish West Bengal's image. She condemned the BJP's treatment of the women in Sandeshkhali and derided Prime Minister Modi's five-point guarantees, dismissing them as empty promises. Banerjee asserted that such assurances would never come to fruition.

In conclusion, Mamata Banerjee's remarks underscore her confidence in the India Bloc's electoral prospects while challenging the BJP's assertions of electoral dominance. She remains steadfast in her opposition to the CAA and critical of the BJP's tactics in West Bengal.
