Swati Maliwal has become the focal point of heated discussions in Delhi's political arena following an incident of assault and misconduct allegedly directed towards the Aam Aadmi Party's woman MP. Confirmed by AAP's Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, the party has vowed to take action against the perpetrators. However, Swati Maliwal's whereabouts remain unknown amidst escalating tensions.
With Lok Sabha elections looming just ten days away in Delhi, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has seized upon the issue, staging protests and cornering the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) over the matter of women's safety. Sanjay Singh, a senior AAP leader, acknowledged the misbehaviour and assured strict action from Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal against those responsible, emphasizing Maliwal's significance within the party.
While Singh promises action, the BJP questions the delay and targets Kejriwal directly, demanding why no police complaint has been filed despite confirmation of the incident. Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva labelled the issue as one of women's respect, underscoring the urgency for accountability.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Police's involvement grows, and they are attempting to reach out to Swati Maliwal, who remains elusive. Despite reports of a meeting between Maliwal and Singh, where Delhi Women Commission member Vandana Singh was also present, Maliwal has neither filed a complaint nor addressed the media directly, leaving her stance on the matter ambiguous.
