The fourth phase of voting is underway in Uttar Pradesh for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, with 96 seats up for grabs.

This time, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Samajwadi Party (SP) are contesting elections separately in UP, which could significantly impact the election results. The Managing Director of Axis My India, Pradeep Gupta, believes that BSP voters could make a significant difference in the election's outcome.

Gupta further stated that the outcome of the Lok Sabha elections in UP hinges heavily on the traction of the BSP. He mentioned that the BSP's vote share had decreased in the past elections, but this time, the situation could be different. Gupta added that the Yadav and Muslim votes combined constitute 30 per cent, whereas Jatav and non-Jatav votes together amount to 50 per cent. On the other hand, if OBC and upper caste votes are combined, it amounts to 50 per cent. According to Gupta, there is tough competition between the three parties, and the decision of the BSP voters could be a pivotal factor in shaping the election's outcome.

BSP chief Mayawati has expressed maximum confidence in the Muslim community in this Lok Sabha election. In a significant shift, Mayawati has awarded a record number of tickets to Muslims, with 23 Muslim candidates contesting the polls. Previously, only six tickets were given to Muslims. In addition to the Muslim community, Mayawati has also provided a considerable number of tickets to Yadavs and Brahmins.

With the BSP's formidable presence in the state, the election's outcome is shrouded in uncertainty. Mayawati has announced the names of candidates for 78 out of 80 seats in the state, including 23 Muslims and 15 Brahmins. However, her cards for the Deoria and Kushinagar seats are still undisclosed. The picture will only be clear after voting on all the seats, adding to the suspense and intrigue of the political landscape.
